Responsibilites
1. Control the selection of new chemical products, confirm their transformation and industrial application feasibility, estimate the industrialization cost of chemical projects, and ultimately assist in the development and implementation of new products at the Nanjing plant in China, especially those involving hazardous chemicals.
2. Search for technologies/science and competitive research results in the global chemical field, including research results from China. Develop novel process/technology routes for methionine and its derivatives, and complete the transformation from laboratory to pilot-scale projects.
3. Construct the project research framework (objectives, resources, coordination, milestones, follow-up, and reporting).
4. Drive innovation through patent writing.
5. Seek collaborations with universities and industrial enterprises.
6. Guide engineers in experimental design to meet the requirements for moving to the next stage of the project management process.
7. Respond to R&D service and needs related to production, process, commerce, sales, and finance.
8. Assist in the continuous improvement of the laboratory, propose new methods and suggestions, and play an active role in departmental meetings.
9. Prepare monthly R&D work reports and quarterly chemical and process reports.
10. Manage and be responsible for the career development, experimental planning, progress tracking, training, advancement, and KPIs of laboratory technicians.
11. Other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
1. PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Heterogeneous Catalysis, or a closely related field. Preference will be given to candidates with Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar advanced business and management training.
2. Industry Leadership Experience: At least 10 years of senior experience in an industrial R&D environment, including at least 5 years in a clearly defined project or team leadership position with a verifiable track record of successfully delivering complex R&D projects.
3. Specific Area Experience: Substantial experience leading strategic R&D projects, teams, or technology platforms in sulfur chemistry-related fields (hydrodesulfurization, selective hydrogenation of sulfides, Claus processes, or reaction catalysis technologies for sulfur chemical synthesis). Experience in technology transfer and scale-up from laboratory to pilot or industrial scale is a plus.
4. Experience in hazardous chemical process development and industrialization.
5. Proficient in English (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) in daily work.
6. Ability to estimate costs for chemical projects.
7. Ability to screen, transform, and implement chemical technologies.
8. Ability to manage global R&D projects or complex, significant regional projects.
9. Capable of independently undertaking specialized technical tasks at the RICA level, proposing or leading new ideas or projects related to product development, process optimization, and technical services.
10. Proficiency in phase-gate or other advanced project management frameworks, the ability to manage complex projects, and impactful innovative development capabilities are core requirements.
11. Possesses a deep understanding and rich application experience in catalyst and process R&D, particularly in sulfur chemistry.
12. Proficient in using professional information tools (databases, ChemDraw, etc.) and chemical software: ChemDraw, Aspen Plus.
13. Able to read and understand chemical and analytical scientific and/or technical documents
