Role Overview
As the Biofertiliser Sales Manager (Farm & Plantation), you will be a key member of the sales team, and will be responsible for identifying targets & building sales pipeline in the agriculture sector, meeting sales targets, managing team documents, CRM database, developing existing customers, identifying new sales channels. You will be one of the key team members for ensuring that our organic fertiliser products are commercially successful in Malaysia, with a major focus on building direct-to-farm sales.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for building the pipeline of farms & plantations to target for biofertiliser sales, developing the pipeline, closing sales and providing post-sales support.
You will work closely with customers & attend fertiliser & agricultural events, prepare & give presentations and seminars. You will also provide technical information on various company products to domestic (and potentially international) customers, primarily working on farm & plantation clients (rather than dealers & distributors). You must have a thorough knowledge of the products being demonstrated to convey benefits and answer questions accurately while dealing with customers. You will work closely with the Marketing team to develop sales, technical and promotional materials.
Key activities will include, but are not limited to;
Sales Activities
Delivering new leads by leveraging your existing industry network, and developing new sales channels.
Hitting sales targets, on both revenue and volume expectations
Negotiating and closing deals with farm & plantation customers in Malaysia.
Developing client relationships for all agricultural products in Malaysia.
Advising clients on application rates, based on R&D trials, and other client results.
Ensuring our customer service is fast & professional, communications and response times are all within KPI.
Developing partnerships with farms, plantations, clients & researchers to test, assess and develop our products.
Marketing & Commercial Activities
Identifying & developing sales channels, and building a pipeline through market research and cold calling potential clients.
Supporting the Marketing team to develop materials suitable for new sales channels
Liaising with R&D team to integrate research & trial results into sales materials.
Conducting on-site product demonstrations, presentations and farmer training.
Qualifications
Requirements
Target driven, ambitious, natural sales person.
At least 2 years’ experience in a sales or account management role, and ideally in the agricultural sector.
Familiarity with CRM tools (eg SalesForce or Zoho CRM), forecasting & reporting.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, sales, or relevant field, Master’s degree preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be a listener, a presenter, and a people-person.
You must be driven by a challenge and have the agility and flexibility to adapt to a very fast growing company.
An interest in, and understanding of, science, agriculture and biotechnology
An interest in sustainability, and circular economy and good farming practices
Strong attention to detail, with a high level of self-management.
Reports To
You will report to the Senior Sales Manager and will work closely with the rest of the commercial team where required. You will also work closely with the Regulatory & Product Coordinator and the FSRA team, and coordinate information with the R&D team.
