Under the direction and supervision of the Director and the Vice President, Asia Pacific, the Manager will perform the following duties:
▪ Regulatory and Technical Support
Monitor domestic agricultural, livestock and other related regulatory developments that influence and have the potential to influence the marketing environment for U.S. red meats in China. Report developments to the Director, the
Vice President, Asia Pacific, USMEF Denver staff and USMEF membership as needed.
Interact with other relevant Chinese government ministries, bureaus, education institutions, and industry associations to monitor pending legislation, regulatory actions, and industry practices that can impact U.S. red meat imports.
Monitor GACC, MARA and other PRC government websites for updated information on red meat access conditions for U.S. beef and pork, and that of competing supplying countries; translate materials associated with the above as needed.
Work with USMEF Denver Export Services staff to resolve technical access issues, and collect and report regulatory information as needed
Maintain working relations with other USMEF China staff and consultants, and with the Agricultural Trade Offices, Agricultural Affairs section of the American Embassy in Beijing, and the USDA FSIS food safety attaché (Beijing) in arranging for services or information required for carrying out the market analysis function
Maintain relations with personnel in Agriculture Trade Offices and Agricultural Affairs Offices throughout Beijing regarding livestock market conditions and U.S. red meat import technical access conditions.
Attend industry conferences and meetings as needed to maintain relations with key target Chinese industry stakeholders.
Report on red meat market conditions within the region as needed and when warranted.
Host USMEF members and provide briefings on China red meat market conditions as required.
Plan and execute related events and activities including seminars, trade shows, roundtables, trade missions and etc.
Assist the Director to develop an annual budget for activities associated with carrying out the aforementioned duties
▪ Marketing Responsibilities
Support the Director in building MEF yearly strategic plan, marketing initiatives and budget in the North region.
▪ Perform other duties as necessary and requested by the Director and Vice President.
