Responsibilites
1. Establish and develop technical platforms for strain engineering and synthetic biology, working closely with scientists in molecular biology, enzyme engineering, synthetic biology, fermentation, and downstream process development. Provide guidance and technical coaching to junior R&D engineers and technicians.
2. Lead the construction of chassis microorganisms for high-efficiency production strains and conduct fundamental research in metabolic
engineering. Evaluate, validate, and optimize metabolic pathways, gene editing tools, and synthetic biology components.
3. Develop and optimize high-throughput screening methods and analytical technologies to assess strain performance (titer, yield, productivity) in alignment with commercial objectives.
4. Manage, drive, or support global R&D INNODEV projects related to industrial strain development and process optimization, ensuring timely delivery of stable production strains.
5. Transfer, localize, and implement biotechnologies and production strains from overseas R&D centers to meet local raw material availability and regulatory requirements.
6. Conduct global scouting of emerging technologies and patents in synthetic biology and metabolic engineering, and manage collaborations with academia, industrial partners, and startups.
7. Perform competitive analysis in industrial biotechnology to provide insights for R&D strategy and technology roadmap development.
8. Identify and manage biotechnology patents related to novel strains, metabolic pathways, and engineering approaches.
9. Collaborate cross-functionally with global and China R&D teams and business units to ensure alignment between strain engineering objectives and market/product commercialization needs.
10.Manage laboratory personnel (research assistants and lab engineers), including daily supervision and performance evaluation, and foster an open and innovative research culture.
11.Complete other tasks assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications
1. PhD in Synthetic Biology, Strain Engineering, Metabolic Engineering, or related fields in Life Sciences/Biotechnology, with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
2. Strong preference for candidates with 15+ years of experience in synthetic biology and industrial strain engineering, including organisms such as E. coli, Bacillus, yeast, Aspergillus, Trichoderma, etc.
3. Strong research expertise in synthetic biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, metabolic engineering, strain development, and fermentation engineering.
4. Proven capabilities in R&D project management and technical platform
development.
5. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross functional and cross-cultural environments with both local and global teams.
6. Willingness to lead innovation and take on challenging and high-risk tasks.
7. Results-oriented mindset with strong execution capability.
8. Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-changing environment.
9. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative team spirit.
